Five Wins Put Lazar Zdrale on European U23 Path

Serbia’s Lazar Zdrale delivered a flawless -100 kg performance at the Judo competition in Skopje, winning all five of his contests. The medal also secured his place at the upcoming European U23 Championships.
The unbeaten record tells only part of the story. Zdrale said his route through the draw demanded focus and hard work, with several difficult contests standing between him and the podium.
For the Serbian judoka, the result is an encouraging sign ahead of the European U23 Championships. Five victories from five contests gave him both a medal and confirmation of his place at the next major target on his calendar.
Zdrale’s perfect day in Skopje ended with five victories and a European U23 place.
Skopje has become a familiar setting for Zdrale, who was competing in the city for the third time. He praised the organisation around the event and said the welcoming atmosphere made him feel at home.
Russia finished first in the overall medal table with four gold, four silver and ten bronze medals. France took second with two gold, three silver and two bronze, while Georgia completed the top three with two gold, one silver and one bronze.
Zdrale’s unbeaten run stood out as a strong Serbian moment in a competitive field, with his attention now turning towards the European U23 Championships.
