Judo’s Fair Play Moments Take Centre Stage in 2026

The European Judo Union (EJU) has opened nominations for its 2026 Fair Play Award, putting the spotlight on the respect and integrity that shape Judo beyond the final result.
The award recognises outstanding acts of sportsmanship, respect and fair play shown during 2026. It is an opportunity to celebrate the moments that can be easy to miss beside medals and match results: helping an opponent, acting honestly or showing solidarity when it matters.
The EJU is inviting athletes, coaches, officials, media representatives and spectators to put forward people who set that example. A nomination can recognise a gesture towards an opponent, an act of honesty or another exceptional display of fair play.
Judo is measured not only by victories, but by the respect shown on and off the tatami.
Each submission should include the nominated person’s name and country, along with the competition or venue where the act happened. The EJU also asks for a short description of what took place, supported by a photograph or video link when available.
Nominations must be submitted by 15 November 2026. The EJU’s call is a reminder that Judo’s values are visible in decisive moments of character as well as in Ippon and Waza-ari.
By sharing these stories, the Judo community can recognise people whose actions reflect the sport’s commitment to mutual respect. The Fair Play Award offers a platform for those examples to be seen and remembered.
